The 12 candidates were handpicked from the 35 that joined the search before they were trimmed down.
According to search committee chair and Iponan barangay chair Anthony Brilleta, the search started from in early January this year and will culminate with the crowning of the new Miss Kagay-an in August during the city fiesta.

The absence of Department of Tourism (DOT) 10 director Catalino Chan was felt as he was the usual fixture of the annual pageant search. Chan suffered from a non-life threatening medical condition and cannot join the event this year.
Brilleta added that they are excited for the coming pageantry. Brilleta also gave much adoration to the mentors of the candidates as they will mold their wards en route for the crown.

The 12 candidates are Joanna Grace Daaca, 19 years old; Kathleen Quette Eduave, 22 years old; Shiela Mae Relevo, 24 years old; Elaine Roselle Aquino, 21 years old; Sonia Vanessa Bacasmot, 20 years old; Angel Carbajal, 20 years old; America Atega, 24 years old; Jamie Joy Bantigue; April Darlin Jane Hernandez, 24 years old; Ma. Pamela Gayramara, 20 years old; Hanna Melissa Cagas, 21 years old; and Christel Valdehueza, 20 years old.
The exciting pageant will culminate with the crowning of the new Miss Kagay-an 2011 on August 24 at the Atrium of Lim Ket Kai Mall.
